What is skin redness and rosacea?

Rosacea and skin redness usually begins as subtle reddening on the face, commonly on the cheeks and nose. Over time, this redness can become more severe, developing into inflammation and various skin eruptions.

Different types of Rosacea

Vascular Rosacea. Put simply: Facial Redness

This is the most common type of Rosacea. People suffering from this usually notice consistent redness in the central areas of the face, including the visibility of broken blood vessels under the surface of the skin.

Inflammatory rosacea. Put simply: Bumps & Pimples

This type of rosacea is often confused with acne, the difference is there are no blackheads but a stinging or burning sensation.

Phymatous rosacea. Put simply: Skin thickening

This causes the growth of excess tissue which often results in the enlargement of the nose and uneven skin texture.

What causes rosacea?

Exact causes of rosacea are yet to be scientifically proven, but there are common triggers that can worsen the condition. Consuming hot foods and drinks, spicy foods and alcohol can often aggravate the problem. Stress can also worsen the condition.
