Being in the beauty industry for 18 years, I have specialised in all aspects, from beauty to specialised skin treatments.

As I am getting married to my amazing partner in March 2018 at the beautiful Lodge 9 in Tutukaka, I thought it would be a great opportunity to personally experience and chronicle the journey of one of our most advanced skin treatments; Fractional C02 Laser. This gives me the chance to explain in more depth what to expect during treatment.

Like any bride, I want to look amazing on my special day and skin is a huge part of the preparation. I am knocking on 40 but in my early 20's I got a really bad case of Chickenpox, leaving a fair amount of scarring to my face. This treatment is great for helping improve the texture and tone of the skin. Prior to having a Fractional C02 Laser, I prepped my skin with conditioning treatments, including Microdermabrasion and Sonophoresis Infusions.

My Experience:

Day 1: Skin felt very hot and tight. Looked sunburnt. Physically I felt a bit low on energy.

Day 2: Skin still had a sunburn feel. Felt dry and dehydrated. Grid marks starting to show. Physically felt a lot better.

Day 3: Skin slightly red, very similar to day 2.

Day 4: Grid marks starting to heal with a bit of a brown colour. Feeling very dry.

Day 5: Slightly red, grid marks are fading.

Day 6: Had a hydration facial to boost skin's moisture.

A little bit more about Fractional C02 Laser:

Fractional C02 Laser is designed to treat the advanced signs of damaged skin by correcting tone, firmness, texture and scarring while reducing fine lines and wrinkles. It works by passing pulses of light down through to the deeper layers of the skin, damaging the cells below and triggering the skin's natural rejuvenation and healing process. This controlled damage is used to train the cells in the basal (deeper) layer to grow back stronger, firmer and faster. As a result, skin becomes smoother, firmer and more even in colour. Microscopic areas of skin are treated at a time, so the Fractional C02 Laser is much more comfortable than other laser treatments. Most clients are happy to have the treatment with a light topical anaesthetic. For the greatest improvement, a course of Fractional C02 Laser treatments is recommended, combined with skin conditioning treatments as part of our Skin Health Payment Plan at Caci.
