Whether it's waxing, shaving, or something more long-term, these days there are plenty of options available for hair removal.

If you're after silky-smooth results but unsure which option would be best suited for you, keep reading below for more information on the pros and cons.

Waxing

Regular sessions with a waxing professional will give you longer-lasting results than shaving, because hairs are removed from the root. With repeated sessions, hair can sometimes grow back lighter and sparser, so getting regular waxes will give you the best results.

It pays to see a professional beauty therapist rather than trying it at home, as results will be more even and consistent. Your beauty therapist will also advise you on what you can do to minimise the chance of ingrown hairs and how best to care for the waxed area post-treatment.

Electrolysis

Suitable for most body areas and hair types, electrolysis is a longer-lasting option than shaving or waxing and helps promote lesser, finer hair growth over time*. Hair treated by electrolysis rarely (if ever) grows back, so it's also preferable for people looking to avoid ingrown hairs.

It works by passing a small amount of energy into your hair follicle through a fine probe, which destroys cells at the base of the hair. This is ideal for treating smaller, more targeted areas such as the upper lip, chin, eyebrows, midline of the stomach or areola, but isn't recommended for covering larger areas of the body.

Laser hair removal

This form of hair removal also offers long-term results, but unlike electrolysis, can be suitable for covering larger areas such as the back and legs as well as smaller areas like the bikini line/Brazilian and face.

Using the latest generation VPL (variable pulsed light), light beams are passed through the targeted area. This is absorbed by the pigment within the hair shaft and follicle, and heat is generated that loosens the hair and disables the hair-forming cells to help prevent regrowth.

Typically, a course of 8 sessions is required to target as many hairs during the growth cycle as possible, and reduce the chances of it growing back. As this is a long-term solution for hair removal, it can prove more cost-effective than waxing and shaving over time.

Not all hair colours and skin types can be treated by VPL for hair removal, so we recommend coming in for a free consultation to get all of the information you need about the treatment.
